Dignitaries & Authorities

Key Scriptures: Romans 13:1-7; 1 Timothy 2:1-3; Acts 23:5; Exodus 22:28; Matthew 20:25-29; Hebrews 13:7, 17, 24; 1 Timothy 5:17; 2 Peter 2:10; Jude 8

 > Pray for the people of God to get a clear revelation and understanding of how the Lord views authority

 > We have been given the authority to bless--we are to bless and curse not (Numbers 23:20; James 3:10)

 > Pray for a breakthrough into real understanding of submission, headship, oversight, authority and for the saints to know how to walk in these things in a God-honoring way without fear

 > Pray for your president, your vice-president, your governor, presiding elected officials, members of the supreme court, and all of the men and women that are in positions that affect the direction and blessing of God on our country

 > Pray for the Lord to stretch forth His hand and "put one down and set another one up" where needed (the Lord knows when leaders will not yield to His purposes and He is capable of putting down a leader so He can replace them with another leader--Psalm 75:7)

 > Pray that the attitude of the saints would more and more reflect the heart of the Father specific to the issues and areas of authority

 > Come against the spirit of rebellion in the church that causes the people of God to despise dignitaries and curse / speak against those whom God has chosen to be set in seats of authority

 > Pray for a better understanding for the saints of how God uses trouble to draw His people to himself (for example the persecution of the Israelites when under Pharoah in Egypt)

 > Ask the Lord for understanding of how God uses a Pharoah to His own glory

 > Pray for the church to get clear revelation about "submitting to one another in the fear of the Lord" (Ephesians 5:21)

 > Pray for the leaders to be broken men and women who are true servants that the saints can easily submit to for the benefit of the church and the world

 > Ask the Lord to raise up the true elders in your city and teach them how to "sit at the gate" of the city (Deuteronomy 22:15, 25:7; Proverbs 31:23; Lamentations 5:14)

 > We need to see the saints that have been abused by authority get healed so that they can once again trust the Lord and the authority that the Lord has for their life.  Pray for Jesus to pour in oil and wine (Luke 10:34) and heal the broken-hearted (Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:18) so the saints are free to embrace oversight and at the same time have a healthy view of how all of this is supposed to work.

 > Pray for the leaders of God to have a proper understanding of God's government so that the church of God can really break free from the spirit of the age (Isaiah 9:6-7; 1 Corinthians 12:28)

 > Pray for the Shebnas to be put down in God's timing and the Eliakims to be raised up (Isaiah 22)
