SCOTT & AKUA MORRISON: Scott and Akua are a recent and developing relationship for us. We met them in August of 2005 and learned of their vision for East Africa. We look forward to working with the Morrisons and supporting the work they are doing in Uganda.
REPORT: On Sunday, February 26th we hosted Scott & Akua Morrison. Scott did a great job sharing their story and what they will be doing as they follow the Lord's leading in a move to East Africa (listen here). Scott, Akua and family will be moving to Uganda in March to engage in full time ministry in four East African countries. They will also be involved with 200 Bible Schools in a total of 7 countries in East Africa. We welcome the opportunity to walk with this family. Please ask the Lord how you might be a blessing to this family and ministry. They will need ongoing financial and prayer support. You can make a donation by clicking here (make a note that your gift is for East Africa Missions).
UPDATE MARCH 26TH-SCOTT & AKUA MORRISON: Scott, Akua and boys arrived safely in Uganda Friday, March 24th. Things were a little different in terms of their housing when then arrived so they are making some adjustments. Akua says they are doing well even with the changes and that the boys have already started making new friends there. We need to increase prayer for this family during the time of their moving and getting settled into their new home and the new work. Thank you for your support for this family. You can make contributions for the Morrison's by clicking here or at the Missions Base link to the left. Mark your donation for East Africa. Please keep praying for this family.
A LETTER FROM SCOTT DATED APRIL 4TH:
Dear Michael,
Hey this is Scott and Akua. I wanted to email you quickly and let you know a couple of updates.
God has been so good to us. I stand amazed at all that He has done on our behalf to propell us into our destinies. When it was time to for us to go to Uganda, I had no idea how we were going to pay for it. We spoke at your church, and then the other churches that we had lined up kind of fell through. I really started to panic but God knew what He was doing and two days before we were supposed to leave, we were given by various people, more than enough money to get here. This walk of faith sometimes overwhelms us with His goodness. It is true that mercy overtakes judgment.
On Sunday, I ministered at our dear friend Pastor Amos Omoit's church in a village called Kedera. God was so awesome to meet us there but what really moved me more than anything else, was seeing a lady that I hadn't seen in quite a while. On our first trip, we did some door to door evangelism. We went to this lady's mud hut and she was Catholic. Here in Uganda, the Catholics are alot like the Catholics in Central America. They have mixed their Catholicism, with witchcraft and the like. She had just injured herself with a huge machette, and asked us to pray for her. I think it was her foot that was cut so we prayed. After praying I told her that God was going to heal her, and that by the following morning, she would be totally healed. I then told her very boldly that if God did not heal her, I was a liar and everything I had told her about God was a lie....Well thank God I was plugged in because God healed her! And three years later she was sitting there in the service, still healed and still saved!!! God is good. We are booked every Sunday until the middle of May.
A couple of prayer requests: our original house fell through. The man had rented it out as kind of dorms for college students, while we were gone. I had never given him money, however, I lost a whole month. I now have to start looking from the beginning. There is no such thing here as a Real Estate Agent. You have to do everything by word of mouth. So the looking goes on.....agghh.
Also, another point of prayer is our transportation situation. We tried to raise some money towards a car while home in the States but nothing ever came in designated for it, and just with the huge expense of getting here, that was something we kind of put at the bottom of the list. I orginally thought we were going to have to spend a lot more than what we have been blessed to be true. The local mechanic, is a Pakitstani, who grew up here in Tororo. He has a car that is in immaculate condition. It is perfect. He has all the latest greatest on it. He wants to sell it to us because he knows that we will take care of it. It is only 3500 dollars. So please pray with us that when I send out this months newsletter God will move on the hearts of the right people. I have to give him 2400 by the end of the month (I already gave him 100) and then I can pay out the balance over the next couple of months.
Thanks for all your support and prayer. We can really feel the prayer going up for us. God is Good and Mighty. We are excited with all that He is doing in and through us.
Serving the Kingdom in Africa,
Scott Akua and the boys
